Qianling Park

Situated on the northwestern part of Guiyang,the Qianling Park, or Qianling Mountain Park is a national AAAA level scenic zone. The park is named  after Qianling Mountain, which is known as "No. 1 Mountain in South Guizhou". The park is covered with thick vegetation and old trees characteristic of the Guizhou Plateau, with more than 1,500 types of flowers and trees and at least 1,000 types of medicinal herbs. Clear springs and strange rocks can be seen everywhere with a lot of rhesus monkeys and birds. Going up the mountain along the winding path, you reach the Hongfu Temple, built at the end of the Ming and beginning of the Qing Dynasty, more than 300 hundred years ago, and one of Guizhou's most famous temples. It and Kylin Cave, at foot of the mountain, and cliff carvings on the mountain are all provincial protected sitesl. Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng, two famous generals, stayed in Kylin Cave under house arrest during the Anti-Japanese War. The cliff carvings can be seen along the path to Hongfu Temple and, near the Kanzhu Pavilion, at the top of the Mountain, you can get a panoramic look at Guiyang. Qianling Lake is at foot of the mountain, with green waves and a mirror-like surface dotted with tourist boats. Under pines and cypresses, there is revolutionary monument to martyrs on the bank. This is a multi-function tourist park, with a zoo in the peaceful valley. There is also evidence of glaciation during the Quaternary period preserved on the mountain. Qianling Park is a distinguished place, one of interest, and a great place for teaching and field work, thanks to its complicated geological structure and a plant variety.
