Tianlongtunbao Ancient Village

Tunbao (Tunpu) refers to the place where the troops were stationed to guard the frontiers after putting down the riots during their southern expedition to Guizhou in the Hongwu reign (1368 - 1398)of the Ming Dynasty, and the descendants of these armymen were called the Tunbao (Tunpu) people. Over the past 600 years or so, these  people have stuck to the Han civilizations in the Yangtze-Huaihe River Valley of the Ming dynasty, and maintained the old traditions in the language, ostume, architeture, religious belief, lifestyle and customs. With the passage of time, the "Tupu culture" was formed.

Situated in Tianlong Village, Tianlong Town, Pingba county, about 30 km from the city proper of Anshun, Tianlongtunbao (Denon Tunpu)is a national agricultureal and tourism demonstration center, and one of the 10 ancient villages in China. In the village, tourists can find Tiantai Mountain, Marshal Art Performance Hall, Post and Tea Station, Tunbao (Tunpu) Dixi Opera, which is known as the "living fossil in the Chinese theater".
