Basha Miao Village

Know as the "last gunman tribe in the world", Basha Miao Village is five km from the county town of Congjiang, and consists of four sub-villages, with a total population of 2,061. The village is surrounded by towering ancient trees, with a quiet and serene environment and picturesque scenery. All the civilian residences built in line with the landform of the mountain have been well preserved, in addition to the ancient, original and mysterious customs and lifestyle. The dresses for men and women reflect the style of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), so that they are regarded as the living fossils of the Qing  culture. In particular, Miao men wear turbans and loose trousers, shoulder a firelock and have a long knife at the waist; and women wear silver necklaces, bracelets and skirts embroidered with various patterns, which are ancient, adorned and colorful.
