Upper Langde Miao Village

About 17 km north of the county town of Leishan, Upper Langde Miao Village lies at the foot of a green mountain and beside limpid waters. It is the earliest and most famous Miao village for receiving tourists in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture and a key historic monument under state protection.

The village has three gates, and the wooden houses on stilts with black tiles scattered on the slopes at the foot of the mountain are aid out in the fashion of a maze. Most of the wooden houses were built in the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), in addition to the Lusheng (a reed-pipe wind instrument) Ground paved with cobbles, the Miao Culture Museum and the former residence of the Miao uprising leader in the Qing Dynasty.
